Press Release-Press Release-Press Release-Press ReleaseToday the Monterey County Elections Department certified the results of the 2024 election and declared me the winner of one of the Pacific Grove City Council’s open seats.  I would like to thank my wife, Beth, for her support and everyone who canvassed, donated, placed signs in their yard, and otherwise supported my campaign.  This win is a tribute to all of you who gave your best to this campaign.  I am eternally grateful.

In the City Manager’s report dated 7/19/2024, titled Political Signs, he posted the City Attorney’s clarification. The exact text is below. Based on this determination, I have begun placing signs for people who have requested them.

Political Signs

The City Attorney has determined that the City’s existing code in regard to a “political sign” time limit on posting in advance of an election is unenforceable. Therefore, candidates may post signs now without regard to the City’s existing code on time limits in advance of an election. The City Attorney will be reviewing potential amendments to the City sign code for the future.

Press Release-Press Release-Press Release-Press Release

I just filed Form 501, formalizing my intent to run for Pacific Grove City Council in the November 5, 2024 election.  I love this city and am determined to make it a better place for everyone. There is so much to love about our city; the beautiful shoreline, the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, our ‘America’s Last Hometown’ feel, and the warm people that reside here.

We have some career politicians telling us things can’t be fixed and they give lots of reasons why.  To solve problems, we need to look at all the possibilities and start with “Yes, and here’s how.”  How can we grow our downtown small businesses while maintaining our small-town feel? How can we be responsible stewards of the environment? How can we maintain a healthy tax base so we don’t have to cut services?

I know how difficult it is to start a small business in this town, and it should be a lot easier. Since the last election, my wife and I purchased a long-vacant and crumbling building in the downtown district. We spent the last year completing tenant improvements and helping get two new businesses off the ground.  PG has some of the same challenges we faced, including a crumbling infrastructure, recent losses of restaurants and retailers, decreasing foot traffic, and less tax revenue from our small businesses.

To find out more about the framework I will use as a public servant to tackle these issues and guide my decisions, join me at TinaforPG.com.  I look forward to this campaign and, if the voters agree, to serving on the City Council.
